How does Workday Security differ from PeopleSoft Security?
Workday Security
- Role-Based Access (RBAC).
- Security access is tied to job positions (job roles), not the person in the job.
- This means that as people are hired into the university, the Workday permissions are automatically available for the individual in the role.
- Likewise, when someone leaves a position, even if they just transfer within the university, they automatically lose the access they previously had with their old job and automatically gain the access associated with their new job.
- Security Access Requests are only needed for special circumstances.
PeopleSoft Security
- Security roles have ambiguous names that don't indicate what they provide access to.
- Everyone has their own special permissions instead of manageable groups.
- Permissions are cumbersome to request.
- Security Access Requests take a long time to complete.
- Nothing is automatic.
