ABET Accreditation in Engineering and Engineering Technology

ABET is a specialized accreditor that accredits college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology.

With ABET accreditation, students, parents, employers, and the community can be confident that a program meets the quality standards that produce graduates prepared to enter a global workforce. Accreditation matters. Learn why.

Accreditation for Engineering Programs

We offer eight undergraduate engineering programs accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org.

Student Outcomes

Each of our programs has documented student outcomes that support the program educational objectives. Attainment of these outcomes prepares graduates to enter the professional practice of engineering. All programs accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org, share the seven student outcomes shown here; individual programs may have articulated additional student outcomes.

  1. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
  2. An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
  3. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
  4. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
  5. An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
  6. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
  7. An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies

Accreditation for Engineering Technology Programs

Three of our undergraduate engineering technology programs are accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org.

Student Outcomes

Each of our programs has documented student outcomes that support the program educational objectives. Attainment of these outcomes prepares graduates to enter the professional practice of engineering. All programs accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org, share the five student outcomes shown here; individual programs may have articulated additional student outcomes.

  1. An ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly‐defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;
  2. An ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;
  3. An ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly‐defined technical and non technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature;
  4. An ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes;
  5. An ability to function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.

The following undergraduate engineering technology degree programs are accredited:

Accreditation for Surveying Programs

Two of our undergraduate surveying programs are accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org.
