Biography

I started my nursing career in 2002 as a medical surgical nurse at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, in Cleveland Ohio, taking care of post-operative gastric bypass patients. In 2004, I started work on my master’s degree at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. During my graduate studies I worked at St. Vincent Hospital System in Erie Pennsylvania. At first, I was on a general medical ward before transitioning to being an infusion therapy nurse where I inserted central lines. Additionally, during my graduate work, I functioned as a home health nurse caring for patients receiving intravenous antibiotics at home.  After completing my Master of Science degree in nursing education, I returned to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation to work as a medical surgical nurse in the digestive institute, where I cared for patients with Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. In 2007, I started my academic journey as an instructor at Kent State University. Over the next 13 years I was honored to be promoted to full professor, received the outstanding faculty award, received the Daisy Faculty award, received the outstanding alumni award from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and I completed my PhD in Evaluation and Measurement. In 2017, I had the honor of becoming the director the accelerated nursing program and the honors coordinator. In 2020, I accepted a position at the University of Mount Union to be the Director of Nursing. During my time at the University of Mount Union the Department of Nursing received full accreditation from the Ohio Board of Nursing and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. In 2023, I accepted the position to be the Executive Director of Nursing Associate Dean of the College of Health and Human Services.
