About the School

The University of Akron School of Nursing is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) offering degrees at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral levels.

The School continues to enhance its stature locally, regionally and nationally while also raising its enrollment to record levels. In only five years, enrollment in The School of Nursing has grown 49% while accepted measurements of student success at both the undergraduate and graduate level have remained strong

The traditional undergraduate program, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), is an integral part of the School's success. Complementing the traditional BSN program at the undergraduate level are the School's Accelerated Nursing program and degree progression programs - RN to BSN and LPN to BSN. 

At the graduate level, the University of Akron School of Nursing maintains its leadership status. The Master of Science in Nursing curriculum provides preparation for advanced practice nursing in a variety of areas including an RN to MSN sequence. The Nurse Anesthesia track is the largest in the state of Ohio and recognized nationally for its student success with the national certification exam and high retention rates.

The Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) has also been approved and accredited by the CCNE. 

Our current alumni represent a Who's Who of Nursing in Northeast Ohio working at prestigious hospitals and health care institutions like the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, University Hospital, Summa Health System, Akron General Medical Center, and Akron Children's Hospital among others.
