The Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences is the largest and oldest degree-granting college at The University of Akron, home to schools, departments, centers and institutes in education, fine arts, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences. History of Buchtel College

Since its founding in 1870, Buchtel College has been the academic cornerstone of The University of Akron. From educating students during Akron's rise as the nation's fastest-growing city to pioneering the world's first rubber chemistry courses, the college has helped shape generations of innovators while evolving into today's Buchtel College of Arts & Sciences.
