Meet the Dean

Dr. Peter Q. Pfordresher joined The University of Akron as dean of the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences in July 2026. A collaborative leader and internationally recognized scholar in music cognition, he believes higher education is at its best when it connects outstanding teaching, innovative research and meaningful community engagement. He brings extensive experience in academic leadership, student success and faculty development, and is committed to helping BCAS build on its strengths while creating new opportunities for students, faculty and the communities we serve.
