Pre-Health Partnership Programs

The University of Akron offers multiple pathways to medical, dental and pharmacy school. Whether you're interested in an early assurance program or a traditional pre-health route, you'll receive the advising and academic preparation to help you reach your goals.

* All of the partnerships programs require students to be either U.S. citizens or permanent residents with the exception of pharmacy. See the FAQs for each partnership for eligibility requirements.

Get a head start on your healthcare career through exclusive partnership opportunities. Qualified students can earn early assurance or early acceptance to medical, dental or pharmacy school while completing their undergraduate degree at The University of Akron.

Pre-med Program Overview

The Early Assurance Pathway is the newest partnership pathway in more than 40 years of collaboration between The University of Akron and Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) to educate future health care professionals. This unique opportunity allows UA students to secure a seat, early, in a future medical school class at NEOMED. More information.

Early Acceptance Program (EAP)

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Early Acceptance Program (EAP) allows qualified students to earn a reserved seat at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) while completing a four-year undergraduate degree at The University of Akron. Each year, up to five UA students are admitted to LECOM's College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Dental Medicine or School of Pharmacy. Students may apply during their senior year of high school or before the start of their third year at UA.

Traditional path

If you are not eligible for these partnership programs, you can pursue a "traditional" pre-med path at The University of Akron’s Buchtel College of Arts & Sciences.
